TRUE Movement

was born out of a passion to cultivate a community of like minded individuals who all share a love of MOVEMENT, wellness, and community, as well as the desire to live a more balanced, centered way of life. Founded by Keri Hawkins and ignited by the disruptions felt in the community during the global pandemic, True Movement seeks to elevate mind and body through the different types of movement class offerings, along with innovative therapies to connect the mind and body. Keri has long been a fitness enthusiast and began teaching group fitness classes as a hobby during college. However, her true passion for helping others came during a challenging period in her life where she struggled to find a way back to health and happiness. It was then that she found movement became a primary source of inspiration and strength, and rebuilt the confidence needed to get past life’s challenges and thrive. It was during this time that she also developed a deeper connection to body, mind and spirit through the disciplined movement of Pilates and then later… Brazilian Jiujitsu (her two favorites sources of movement).

Fitness and Movement

remained a constant practice of Keri’s, throughout most of her life from the age of 5 years old and on. In early 2000, she moved to New York City and took up a strict and regimented practice of Pilates. It was there that she discovered the powerful benefits of this particular discipline and from that point on, throughout her many geographical moves, the first thing she would do is find her “home” in a neighborhood Pilates studio. She then found a second love in the Martial Art of Brazilian Jiujitsu. It was within this discipline that she truly found the peace and balance she was seeking, and where it became her lifestyle. She hopes that True North (the movement) will become a place for others to explore their own Movement journey and ultimately their own source of inspiration.

Community

is now what drives Keri in all of her pursuits and Movement is deeply rooted in everything she does. After 30 years, she has a strong desire to share what she had learned through her experiences, and share the tools that have helped her move through difficult transitions with ease and grace. True North is a way of life; infusing movement with state of the art wellness therapies and practices to create unity between the mind, body, and spirit…and unity within the community. We hope that we can help bring you closer to your ultimate joy and fulfillment.
